Carrying the Paralympic Flame

ORCHARD PARK's June Jarvis was given the honour of carrying the Paralympic Flame at Ellesmere Port to celebrate the opening of the games.

June,62, who has been blind since birth, was nominated to carry the lantern in recognition of her constantly positive attitude, courage and work for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

  June, who rowed across  Loch Ness last year, and has lived on Orchard Park for 15 years, said:"It was a great honour to be carrying the flame and a very emotional moment."
